Madan Lal Khurana was a symbol of high ideals in Indian politics: Harsh Malhotra

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Remembering former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana on his birth anniversary, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra on Thursday said that he was a symbol of high ideals in Indian politics, and was not just a leader, but an embodiment of an entire value system.
Malhotra said that examples like him could rarely be seen in present day’s political landscape, and mentioned the time when Khurana without wasting a moment had resigned from the post of CM, as his name surfaced in the Jain Hawala case back in 1995.
He said that Khurana had conveyed with his move that character and principles are greater than any position.
The Delhi BJP president said that Khurana was not called the ‘Lion of Delhi’ without reason, and the confidence of the people of Delhi could be heard in his voice.
He fought for Delhi’s demand for statehood as well as for basic public amenities, and even his political opponents respected his forthrightness and outspokenness.
Malhotra said that on his birth anniversary, everyone should resolve to carry forward Khurana’s politics of sacrifice, dedication and putting the nation first.
Meanwhile, a programme was organised on Thursday at the Delhi BJP office on Khurana’s birth anniversary, where his wife Raj Khurana, OP Babbar, Mool Chand Chawla, Ved Vyas Mahajan and other senior office-bearers and workers paid floral tributes and garlanded his portrait, while remembering his ideals and contributions.
BJP Delhi office-bearers Vishnu Mittal, Rajesh Bhatia, Ranjeet Kashyap, Santosh Ojha, Amit Gupta, along with Khurana’s family members Shivam Chhabra and Sanyam Chhabra, were also present on the occasion.
