Mojtaba Khamenei orders Iranian military to enact immediate retaliation against renewed US attacks

Tehran, Oct 31 (UNI) Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has told the country's top military commanders that any renewed US or Israeli attack must be met with an immediate response without geographical restrictions, according to a statement from his office today.
The warning comes as US President Donald Trump considers major military strikes against Iran following the American midterm elections, amid renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent another escalation, reports Axios.
The statement described the meeting as the first publicly disclosed encounter between Khamenei and the commanders of Iran's three principal military branches since the war began.
Khamenei has not appeared or spoken publicly since being wounded in an Israeli strike on the first day of the conflict, issuing only written statements that have fuelled questions about his condition.
The reported meeting took place a day after Qatari mediators held more than 12 hours of discussions in Tehran in an effort to secure an agreement to resume direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The talks continued in Doha on Saturday.
"If the enemies once again launch military or terrorist attacks, it will be the Islamic Republic of Iran's Armed Forces and the Iranian nation that determine when and under what conditions those hostilities will end," Khamenei told the commanders, according to the statement.
The meeting was attended by armed forces chief of staff General Ali Abdollahi, army commander Major General Amir Hatami and IRGC commander Maj Gen Ahmad Vahidi.
The commanders briefed Khamenei on military readiness along Iran's Gulf coastline, around the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, as well as along the country's north-western and south-eastern borders.
They also reported a "several-fold increase" in the production of ammunition and various reconnaissance, support and combat weapons.
Khamenei instructed the military leadership to update its list of potential targets, saying the "target bank" should be expanded so that all American and Israeli military and strategic assets remained within reach of Iranian forces.
He also praised what he described as the "intelligent steadfastness" of Iran's regional allies and proxy groups, stressing that unity across different fronts was a "decisive and strategic" element of the country's military approach.
The statement said Khamenei called for any future response to achieve "maximum deterrence", signalling Tehran's intention to retaliate immediately and without geographical limitations in the event of renewed hostilities.
