Supriya Sule demands answers from Home Dept over firing incidents in Maharashtra

Beed, Oct 18 (UNI) NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule demanded accountability from Maharashtra’s Home Department following firing incidents reported at two locations in the state, questioning whether criminals are receiving protection.
Speaking to the media in Beed, she said the state was facing a serious situation amid drought conditions, while incidents of violence were raising concerns over law and order.
Referring to the firing incidents in Pune and Beed, along with the Baba Siddique case and the cases involving Anil Deshmukh and Dhananjay Munde, Ms Sule said the government must provide answers.
She pointed out that the same alliance was in power at both the Centre and the state, and cited data from union Home Minister Amit Shah’s department, claiming that crime had increased.
Ms Sule alleged that the possibility of criminals receiving protection could not be ruled out, and called on the Home Department to explain the situation.
Commenting on the state’s drought situation and government assistance, Ms Sule said that distributing money to win elections amounted to an insult to the Constitution drafted under the leadership of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
She reiterated her demand for financial assistance of Rs ₹5,000, stating that she did not want to politicise the drought crisis.
She also questioned the government over the rising prices of essential commodities, including cooking oil, pulses and sugar.
Taking a swipe at the use of central investigative agencies, Ms Sule questioned the repeated use of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), adding that the younger generation was no longer intimidated by arrests.
Her remarks came amid concerns over law and order and the ongoing drought situation in Maharashtra.
