Swiatek powers into Round 3 of French Open

Paris, May 30 (UNI) Poland's top seed Iga Swiatek advanced to the final of the third round at Court Suzanne Lenglen with a commanding 6-2, 7-5 victory over Romania's Jaqueline Cristian on Friday.
Swiatek, showing her trademark resilience and precision, dominated the match despite Cristian's determined fightback. The Polish star secured 13 games to Cristian's 8, maintaining control with an impressive 75 percent win rate on first serves and 69 percent on second serves.
Cristian, who struggled to convert break points, failed to capitalise on six opportunities, while Swiatek converted three out of seven. The Polish ace also displayed superior returning skills, winning 32 receiving points compared to Cristian’s 18.
Despite Cristian's higher number of double faults at three, both players remained steady in serving, with Swiątek winning 10 service games to Cristian's 7. Swiatek's consistency was further underlined by her ability to win eight points in a row at one stage, demonstrating her momentum in the match.
The win puts Swiątek in the final, where she will aim to add another trophy to her illustrious career. Cristian, meanwhile, can take pride in her spirited performance against the top seed on one of tennis’s grandest stages.
