True display of courage: Shah Rukh Khan praises Captain Smit Machchhar

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has taken to his social media to applaud the bravery of Captain Smit Machchhar, who helped avert a major tragedy aboard flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30, saving lives of 174 passengers.
The superstar, sharing a story on his Instagram as well as X , wrote, "Captain Smit Machchhar, you stood strong when it mattered the most!! It's not easy to stare adversity in the face and put one's safety on the line."
"But you did just that to protect those onboard and showed us what being a Captain entails. A true display of courage and duty. Wishing you a speedy recovery, the country is proud of you," he added.

Not only Shah Rukh Khan, famous filmmaker Karan Johar lauded the Captain's valor by writing, "It takes another grain of courage to be fighting for your own life but in that split second, put the lives of all others before yours. And that's what Captain Smit Machchhar did the face of the toughest times. And for that, the entire country & humankind is behind you!"
He further concluded, "Thank you for your selfless, courageous and brave heart, you are an inspiration for the generations to come."
Beforehand, celebrities Jackie Shroff, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Anupam Kher and Salman Khan, along with singer Vishal Mishra, among other actors also lauded Smit Machchhar's immense courage for protecting and saving 174 passengers onboard aircraft during the mid-life crisis on September 30.
Captain Smit Machchhar was one of the co-pilots operating flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. He helped avert what could have been a 9/11-style aviation tragedy by foiling an attempt by his Omani co-pilot to crash the aircraft. Smit's co-pilot attempted to stab him in the cockpit, injuring him severely.
