Trump announces formation of ‘Super Intelligence Force’ for AI regulation

Washington, Oct 4 (UNI) US President Donald Trump announced the formation of a “Super Intelligence Force” today, days after meeting leaders of some of the country’s biggest artificial intelligence companies amid growing calls for stronger safeguards around the technology.
“Following the Historic White House Accord on Super Intelligence, where the World's most important Technology Companies came together, and confirmed their responsibilities to the American People, I am announcing the formation of the Super Intelligence Force (SIF),” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump said the force would work with the federal government to ensure the US remains a global leader in “Super Intelligence”, the term he has directed the government to use instead of artificial intelligence.
The force will engage with consumers, public interest groups, religious organisations, infrastructure providers and technology companies. Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will lead it, alongside Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Under Secretary for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.
They will report to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
CBS News reported last week that Clayton was likely to be appointed as the administration’s AI czar. Trump had told reporters after a White House meeting with leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia and Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI that he expected to name an AI czar within three or four days.
At the meeting, the technology companies signed a voluntary set of safety standards. Trump described the commitments as “morally binding” and said he was seeing “tremendous self-policing” from the companies.
Under the one-page accord shared by Trump on Truth Social, the companies committed to “four layers of controls and audits” to ensure their AI models operate as intended. The measures include internal evaluations, independent audits and reviews by company boards.
The companies also agreed to meet regularly to establish standards and best practices aimed at improving the safety of their AI systems.
