U-19 Asia Cup: Sehwag, Raichandani fifties help India thrash Nepal by 10 wkts

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) India began their U-19 Asia Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, crushing Nepal by 10 wickets after Aaryavir Sehwag and Lakshya Raichandani guided the chase with unbeaten half-centuries on Friday.
The Indian bowlers first restricted Nepal to 128 in 42.3 overs, with Ishan Sood claiming 3/18 and Arjun Rajput returning figures of 3/8. Sehwag then led the response with an unbeaten 70, while Raichandani made 53 not out as India reached 129 without losing a wicket in just 19.1 overs. The victory came with 185 balls to spare.
Nepal struggled from the outset after being asked to bat, losing four wickets for 51 runs. Darsh Sonar tried to steady the innings with a 93-ball 43, hitting a four and a six, while Aashish Luthar added 29. But the Indian attack kept the pressure on, with Sood making early inroads before Rajput cleaned up the lower order.
India made a confident start to the chase, with Raichandani taking the initiative in the opening overs. Sehwag, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, soon took charge, striking seven fours and four sixes in his 52-ball knock.
Raichandani remained unbeaten on 53 from 63 deliveries, including seven boundaries, as the pair completed a comfortable victory.
India will next take on Pakistan on Sunday in what promises to be one of the most eagerly awaited matches of the tournament.
