Veteran pacer Umesh Yadav set to exit Vidarbha Cricket Association

Nagpur, Sep 21 (UNI) India pacer Umesh Yadav is set to bring down the curtain on his long association with Vidarbha after securing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), enabling him to join another state side for the forthcoming domestic season.
The veteran fast bowler, who earned the nickname 'Vidarbha Express' for his searing pace, has approached the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to join another state association ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
The seasoned fast bowler said he intends to continue playing domestic cricket and is evaluating offers from a number of state associations. A final decision on his next destination is yet to be taken.
Sources indicate that Yadav's move follows uncertainty surrounding his role in the Vidarbha setup.
The pacer had reportedly approached the team management and selectors seeking clarity about his future but, after receiving no firm assurance, opted to look for opportunities outside the state.
One of Vidarbha's most accomplished cricketers, Yadav debuted in first-class cricket during the 2008-09 season and went on to become a vital figure in the team's success.
Yadav's rise from Vidarbha cricket to the Indian team was historic. He became the first player from Vidarbha to represent India in Test cricket , making his debut against the West Indies in Delhi on November 6, 2011.
He played a major role in Vidarbha's historic Ranji Trophy title wins in successive seasons in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
The 38-year-old has appeared in 141 international matches for India across formats.
His most recent outing for the national side came in the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia in 2023.
Though he has not featured in India's plans in recent years, Yadav remains determined to extend his playing career and continue competing at the domestic level.
