Gaza, Mar 19 (UNI) At least 25 Palestinians were killed and dozens of others wounded on Wednesday in the Israeli bombing of a house in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources.
Among the victims were women and children, medical sources told Xinhua. Eyewitnesses said the dead and wounded had been transported to the hospital.
Security sources said Israeli warplanes targeted the house with at least one missile.
Earlier Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that overnight, the IDF struck a Hamas military site in northern Gaza where preparations were being made to "fire projectiles at Israeli territory."
Tens of Palestinian families fled their homes in various areas of Gaza on Wednesday after the Israeli army issued new evacuation orders, warning of intensified military operations.
Footage circulating on social media showed families walking through debris-filled streets, some pushing carts loaded with mattresses and household items while others held the hands of their frightened children.
Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said on Tuesday in a press statement that the evacuation orders cover the neighborhoods of Beit Hanoun in the north of Gaza, and Khirbet Khuza'a, Abasan al-Kabira, and Abasan al-Jadida in the south, which have been designated as "dangerous combat zones" due to Israel's "ongoing military offensive against armed groups."
The statement called on residents to "evacuate immediately to known shelters in western Gaza City and Khan Younis for safety."
The Israeli army launched intensive airstrikes since dawn on Tuesday in various areas of Gaza, killing more than 400 people and shattering a two-month ceasefire.
