250 new power sub-stations to be constructed in Bihar during 2025-26 : Minister

Patna, Mar 19 (UNI) Bihar Energy Minister Vijender Prasad Yadav on Wednesday announced in Assembly that 250 new power sub-stations would be constructed during the financial year
2025-25.
Yadav while replying to debate on budgetary demand of Energy department for the financial year 2025-26, said in House that decision had been taken to construct 250 new power sub-stations in Bihar during the next financial year.
It would help in quality power supply to consumers, he added.
Minister said that both power distribution companies had started registering profits since 2022-23.
For the first time , power distribution companies in Bihar had registered profits of Rs 215 crores which increased to Rs 1274 crores in financial year 2023-24, he added.
Yadav said that benefits of profits earned by power distribution companies were also being given to consumers by lowering the power tariff.
For the financial year 2024-25, Bihar State Power Regulatory Commission had lowered the power tariff by 15 paise per unit, providing relief to consumers, he added.
Minister said that power supply in town during the previous regime before 2005 was only for seven to eight hours.
Following sustained efforts of Nitish Kumar government, 24 power supply was being maintained in towns of the state, he added.
After reply of the Minister, House passed by voice vote, the budgetary demand of Rs 13,484.35 crores of Energy department for the financial year 2025-26.
