31 Naxalites, two soldiers killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

Chhattisgarh, Feb 9 (UNI) At least 31 Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
Inspector General of Police for Bastar Range, Sundarraj P, confirmed that 31 Naxalites were killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the National Park area of ​​​​Bijapur district. Two soldiers lost their lives and two others were injured during the encounter this morning.
IGP Sundarraj P, confirmed that the jawans killed in the encounter were from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF) – state-level forces that specialise in anti-Maoist operations.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, in a post on X, said, 'Sad news has also been received about 2 soldiers martyred and 2 injured in the encounter. The sacrifice of the soldiers will not go in vain. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our state will be Naxal-free by March 2026. In this direction, the security forces are continuously achieving success and moving rapidly towards the goal.'
'So far, 31 Naxalites have been killed in an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the National Park area of ​​​​Bijapur district. This number may increase further,' CM Sai said.

He said that the end of Naxalism in the form of cancer in the country and state is certain. I pray to God for the peace of the souls of the martyred soldiers and to provide strength to the grieving families and for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.
A large cache of arms and ammunition including AK 47, INSAS and . 303 rifles, grenade launchers and other explosives were also recovered from the encounter site, the police added.
On his social media handle X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, 'In the direction of making India Naxal-free, the security forces have achieved a big success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. In this operation, 31 Naxalites were killed, and a huge amount of arms and explosives was also recovered. Today we have lost two of our brave soldiers in the effort to end anti-human Naxalism. This country will always be indebted to these heroes. I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. I also reiterate my resolve that before 31 March 2026, we will completely eradicate Naxalism from the country so that no citizen of the country has to lose his life due to it.
