64 lakh farmers in Maha to get Rs 2,555 crore insurance compensation: minister

Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) The Maharashtra government will provide a great relief to as many as 64 lakh farmers
in the state and Rs 2,555 crore insurance compensation will be deposited directly in their bank accounts, said
Agriculture Minister Advocate Manikrao Kokate on Friday.
The government has approved distribution of Rs 2,852 crore as pending state share grant due to insurance
companies, he said.
With this decision, the pending compensation amount for the previous various seasons will be deposited
directly in the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of farmers.
Instructions have been given to insurance companies to complete this process as early as possible, he further
said.
The government has distributed funds to insurance companies and the compensation amount will be immediately
deposited in the farmers' accounts.
This decision will provide great relief to the farmers, added Adv Kokate.
