Adarsh Gourav embarks into Telugu Cinema with a genre-bending psychological horror film

Mumbai, Apr 3 (UNI) Acclaimed actor Adarsh Gourav, who has garnered international recognition for his compelling performances, is set to make his Telugu cinema debut in a strikingly unconventional fashion.
Eschewing the traditional commercial launch, Gourav has chosen a psychological horror film with an intriguing sci-fi twist, signalling his intent to explore bold and experimental storytelling in South Indian cinema.
Produced by Jahnavi D V V, daughter of "RRR" producer D V V Danayya, the film - tentatively titled "Happy Birthday Uma", is currently in production in Hyderabad.
With its unorthodox narrative and genre-fusion elements, the project promises to carve a unique space with Telegu cinema's ever-evolving landscape.
Sharing his excitement about the film, Adarsh said, "Stepping into Telugu cinema with a film like this is truly exhilarating. I’ve always been drawn to stories that challenge conventions, and Happy Birthday Uma does exactly that. It’s a psychological horror film, but at its core, it’s also about science fiction—a combination rarely explored in Telugu cinema. When Baba narrated the script to me, I was hooked. The way he has woven suspense, emotions, and science fiction into one narrative is remarkable."
He added, "As an actor, I constantly look for roles that push me beyond my comfort zone, and this film is exactly that. Shooting in Hyderabad, speaking in my mother tongue, and being part of a film that experiments with genre excites me. Telugu cinema is known for its grand storytelling and innovative filmmaking, and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this new wave. I can’t wait for audiences to experience this film—it’s going to be unlike anything they’ve seen before.”
