Aizawl to host first-ever International Half Marathon on April 26

Aizawl, Apr 11 (UNI) The first-ever Aizawl International Half Marathon (AIHM) will be held on April 26, in the Mizoram capital, bringing together elite runners from India and abroad in a landmark event that aims to empower athletes and showcase the region on the global sporting map.
Jointly organised by the Government of Mizoram and Innovations India, and accredited by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), the AIHM is supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), NF Railway, Mizoram Athletics Association, and several government departments, public sector units, and corporate sponsors.
Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of developing the Northeast and nation-building through sports. “This marathon is not just about running—it’s about empowering our youth and sportspersons. It is a platform for Mizoram to shine globally and to inspire a new sporting culture in the Northeast,” Hmar said.
