AP: 55 red sandalwood logs seized, four smugglers arrested

Nellore, June 20 (UNI) The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) seized 55 red sanders logs, worth Rs 60 lakh, as the smugglers were loading the red sanders logs in a vehicle at Ananthasagaram forest area in Atmakur division of the district.
DSP G Balireddy told the media here on Friday that a task force team led by RI Sai Giridhar and RSI C Vinod Kumar conducted combing in the forest area. They noticed some smugglers loading red sanders logs. The task force personnel were nearing them, and they started fleeing from the place. However the task force personnel chased and apprehended four of them. All the four arrested smugglers belonged to Tamil Nadu state.

The task force personnel seized 55 red sanders logs, weighing one tonne, worth over Rs 60 lakh, the car and a motorcycle. The seized red sanders logs were shifted to the task force police station in Tirupati. CI Suresh Kumar registered a case.
