AP CM Naidu's call for 'P4' programme receives overwhelming response

Vijayawada, Apr 5 (UNI) The ‘P4’ programme (Public-Private-People-Partnership), launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, for the uplift of the poorest is receiving overwhelming response from the people.
On receiving the call given by Chandrababu Naidu, the rich are coming forward to become active partners in the ‘P4’ programme to provide assistance to the poor.
Several industrialists have already turned Margadarsi (who leads the way) and are standing by the poor families. In this context, an industrialist from Guntur district has come forward to construct a lift irrigation project with his own funds.
The farmers of Kakumanu mandal in Guntur district have been facing acute water scarcity for irrigation purposes for a long time. Though water is being supplied from Kommamuru canal, the tail-end areas are not getting water. If a lift irrigation project is built the hardships of farmers in this area can be alleviated.
Following a call given by the Chief Minister on P4, the head of the Prasad Seeds, Karumanchi Prasad, has come forward to resolve the issue.
The Chief Minister instructed the Water Resources officials to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the lift irrigation project in Kommamuru area as suggested by Karumanchi Prasad and sanction the necessary permissions at the earliest possible. He also said that by maintaining close coordination among the officials, the lift irrigation project be taken up with the financial assistance being extended by Prasad.
CM Chandrababu Naidu appreciated Prasad for coming forward generously for the benefit of the farmers in his native village. The Chief Minister expressed deep satisfaction that people from different walks of life are coming forward after properly understanding the idea behind the P4 policy.

Karumanchi Prasad, who is from Prathipadu Assembly segment in Guntur district, has been into seeds business for the past four decades. Since 1995 he has been extending a helping hand for the developmental activities being taken up in his areas. For completing the Lift Irrigation scheme in Pedanandipadu in 1995 he extended financial assistance.

Official sources said that land for 10 km long in the tail-end area in the 43-km-long Kommamuru canal have not been cultivated for a long time due to lack of irrigation water facility. Lift irrigation scheme needs to be built near the Kommamuru canal at Kakumanu to resolve this and once the project is complete irrigation water can be supplied to 5,315 acres in this area.
This will also meet the drinking water needs of the people in Kakumanu mandal. The State Government too, on its part will release the necessary funds for the project.
