AP: Every district to have an Endowment Dept building: Minister

Ongole, May 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Endowment Anam Ramanarayana Reddy assured that a building for the Endowment department would be constructed in every district in the State.

The Endowment Minister inaugurated the newly-constructed Endowment department’s Assistant Commissioner’s office here on Monday.
The new building was constructed at a cost of about Rs 1 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Endowment Minister Ramanarayana Reddy said the Chandrababu Naidu headed coalition government has decided that every district should have a building for the Endowment Department.
He announced that the endowment department’s Regional Joint Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner offices would also be inaugurated in Tirupati soon.

The coalition government is extending Rs 10,000 to 5,600 temples to perform regular Dhoopa Deepa Naivaidyam rituals. The previous YSRCP regime gave Rs 5,000 for the purpose but the Naidu headed government had hiked the amount to Rs 10,000, he highlighted, adding that proposals to extend Rs 10,000 to 300 more temples to perform Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyalu rituals is being considered.

“The sanctioning of funds to renovate temples under the CGF scheme is being considered. The officials have been directed to expedite the process of sanctioning funds to temples to perform Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyalu rituals," the Endowment Minister stated.

“Funds are sanctioned by considering the matching contribution by the regions. Every year, about Rs 100 crore is allocated for the construction and renovation of temples. The government has taken the initiative to provide Rs 3,000 per person for three years under Sambhavna to Vedic scholars as announced in the election promises. The process started last month itself,” the Endowment Minister revealed.

The government has already issued guidelines to extend Rs 15,000 to temple priests and Rs 20,000 to Nayee Brahmins, the Minister asserted. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed to start Nitya Annadana programme in major temples in the State, the Endowment Minister noted.

“Revamping the Endowment department has begun. Every programme will be held in the temples after taking the guidance of Agama Pandits. The decision taken by the Agama Pandits will be the final and the interference of temple officials in the regard will be curtailed,” the Endowment Minister acknowledged.
