AP: Two jail mates involved in theft at jewellery shops in 3 districts held

Kakinada, Mar 18(UNI): The Kakinada district police have successfully nabbed a two members of interstate gang involved in thefts of jewellery shops in three districts and recovered from them stolen booty.
Disclosing the arrests of the gangsters, district superintendent of police Garikipati Bindu Madhav said the first accused Karanam kumar (32) hails from Attirala village of Annamayya district and the other Gummalla Venkata Subbaiah (38) is from Chalamgaripalli village of Kadapa district.
Both became friends as remand prisoners in Kadapa Jail during 2023 and since then committing thefts and prominent among them is jewellery shops under Rayalacheruvu police station and Yadiki police station limits in Ananthapur district, Chundupalli police station limits in Rayachoti district and Yelesweram police station limits in Kakinada district.
Both are hardcore criminals as Karanam Kumar was wanted in 30 thefts cases while the other Venkata subbaiah was wanted in 11 cases of red sanders smuggling and 10 thefts cases.
Kumar was convicted and sentenced for 14 years imprisonment in Kakinada two town POCSO case but came out on bail and committing thefts’ the SP said.
Both the jail mates recently on January 19 night committed theft in a house in Nakkapalli in neighboring Anakapalli district and from there came to Tuni railway station where they lifted a motorcycle parked outside.
Later, on February 9, they committed theft of gold jewellery in Siddhanath Jewelries in Yelesweram .
The SP has complimented the Peddapuram sub-division police especially DSP Srihariraju, Prathipadu CI Surya Apparao, Yelesweram SI N Ramalingeswerarao for nabbing these two hardcore criminals near Tirumali junction between Yelesweram and Yerravaram.
He said both the accused have been sent to judicial remand.
