Imphal, April 22 (UNI) Dr Linus Nell , archbishop of Imphal, has announced a nine-day mourning over Pope Francis' death.

The archdiocese expressed profound sorrow and heartfelt prayers for the late Pope. He exhorted all faithfuls to offer special prayers for the Pope.

He said as a mark of solidarity with the global Catholic community, no official entertainment will take place in the Archdiocese of Imphal during the period of mourning.

All institutions under the jurisdiction of the archdiocese of Imphal will remain closed on the day of the funeral as a sign of respect and tribute. A requiem mass for the late Holy Father Francis will be offered in the Archdiocese of Imphal on the day of his funeral at St. Joseph's Cathedral. The timing for the mass will be announced following confirmation from the Vatican.
