Arunachal constitutes Indigenous Affairs Council to promote rich tribal heritage

Itanagar, May 4 (UNI) In a significant move aimed at preserving and promoting the rich cultural and traditional heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, the Department of Indigenous Affairs has officially constituted the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Affairs Council (APIAC), under the guidance and blessings of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The announcement was made by Home and Indigenous Affairs Minister Mama Natung in a post on the micro-blogging site X. He expressed pride in the formation of the Council and lauded the appointment of 11 distinguished members. These individuals have been selected in recognition of their unwavering dedication and service to the indigenous communities of the state.
Minister Natung affirmed the government’s faith in the capabilities of the newly appointed members, stating that their inclusion reflects a commitment to uphold the core vision and objectives outlined in the APIAC Guidelines of 2020.
“Congratulations to all the newly appointed members!” Natung said. “We look forward to their valuable contributions in preserving, promoting, and safeguarding the rich indigenous heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.”
The APIAC members include former Ministers Doi Ado and Naresh Glow, Er Katung Wahge, Kaling Borang, Dr Hage Tabyo, Sokio Dellang, Dr Emi Rumi, Prof Nabam Naka Hina, Maya Murtem, Chow Khai Namsum, and Sontung Lowang Bangsia.
The formation of APIAC marks a vital step in institutionalizing efforts to safeguard indigenous knowledge, customs, and identity for future generations, official sources said. UNI TD SSP
