Arunachal Guv advises NEEPCO to integrate community-centric approach into project implementation strategy

Itanagar, Apr 29 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik has advised the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) to integrate a community-centric model into its project implementation strategy.
The Governor underscored the importance of establishing model villages in project-affected areas, equipped with essential facilities such as schools, healthcare centres, community halls, and local markets. This approach, he noted, would be more sustainable and meaningful than monetary compensation.
The Governor was interacting with NEEPCO Director (Personnel) Major General (Retd) RK Jha, who met him at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Tuesday to discuss the Corporation’s current and future energy initiatives across the State. The meeting focused on NEEPCO’s ongoing projects and expansion plans aimed at strengthening power generation and driving regional progress.
Highlighting the importance of cultural sensitivity, Governor Parnaik emphasized the need to safeguard the socio-cultural fabric of local communities and ensure they benefit meaningfully throughout all phases of project execution.
Furthermore, he recommended that NEEPCO forge partnerships with credible non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in the State, especially those dedicated to healthcare and the welfare of children with special needs, to enhance its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and create a deeper impact at the grassroots level.
Maj Gen Jha expressed his gratitude for the Governor’s insights and assured him of NEEPCO’s steadfast commitment to inclusive and community-oriented development in Arunachal Pradesh.
