Arunachal Guv hosts 'Sarva Dharma Meet' at Raj Bhavan amidst ‘Operation Sindoor’

Itanagar, May 10 (UNI) In a thoughtful and inclusive initiative, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General (Retd) K.T. Parnaik convened a ‘Sarva Dharma Meet’ at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday to promote unity and clarity in the wake of Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terror operation.
Addressing the gathering of religious leaders and civil society members, the Governor emphasised that Operation Sindoor launched on May 7 in response to the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, was a precise, and restrained mission.
"It exclusively targeted terrorist camps across nine locations", he said, stressing that "India’s response was driven not by retaliation, but by the need to safeguard its citizens and uphold national security".
Highlighting the coordinated efforts behind the mission, the Governor said that a strong synergy between the political and military leadership is in place, with decisive guidance from the highest levels. He emphasised that India has consistently championed the values of humanism and will steadfastly uphold them in its collective pursuit of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Governor Parnaik, who, during his service tenure led the world's largest operational military formation as the Chief of the Northern Command, said that the actions of Indian Armed Forces were measured and carefully calibrated, ensuring no civilian casualty or damage to military assets. He noted that the operation was designed to avoid escalation while sending a clear message that India will not tolerate terrorism.
He said that Pakistani forces attempted to create communal disharmony in the country by targeting religious institutions. However, India's vigilant forces effectively thwarted these attempts.
The Governor reassured citizens that India did not initiate aggression, and that global leaders have acknowledged India’s right to defend itself. "Our response was both responsible and resolute, and the widespread international support reflects the world’s understanding that peace cannot exist without security."
Calling upon the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly religious leaders, the Governor emphasised the importance of unity and vigilance, urging everyone to remain vigilant against misinformation and to continue fostering communal harmony.
"Every citizen must be well-informed about our armed forces", he stressed, urging the citizens not to be misled by rumours or divisive narratives.
In a heartfelt note, the Governor praised the unwavering patriotism of Arunachalis, recalling their steadfast support to the Armed Forces during the 1962 Sino-India War.
"The spirit of nationalism runs deep in Arunachal Pradesh. It is this enduring spirit that continues to make our state a proud and integral part of the nation," he said.
The meet witnessed active participation of Dharm Gurus and representatives from diverse faiths, including Indigenous, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian communities, alongside members of civil society, educators and intellectuals. The participants expressed gratitude to the Governor for the initiative and reaffirmed their collective resolve to uphold truth, unity, and peace in the face of adversity.
