Arunachal: RGU hosts Yogotsav-2025 countdown programme

Itanagar, May 14 (UNI) Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills, Doimukh (Arunachal Pradesh), on Wednesday hosted a grand Yoga Protocol Practice Programme as part of Yogotsav-2025, a global initiative led by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
As one of the 100 organizations selected worldwide to commemorate 100 Days (countdown to International Day of Yoga) – 100 Organisations – 100 Locations, RGU took the lead in promoting yoga awareness and holistic well-being through this nationwide countdown celebration.
The event commenced with a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) demonstration at the RGU Student Activity Center, drawing a large number of yoga enthusiasts, including students, research scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff, ITBP personnel, and members of the community.
The inaugural function was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Nayak. Registrar Dr NT Rikam and Finance Officer Prof Otem Padung were also present. The CYP session was led by research scholar Umesh Mimi, along with students from the Yoga Diploma programme.
In parallel, RGU also observed the ‘Nation First’ awareness programme, introduced by Dr Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work. The VC and other dignitaries addressed the gathering, underlining the importance of yoga in daily life and emphasizing the value of putting the nation first in every sphere of activity.
Additionally, a workshop on the theme “Yoga for One Health, One Earth” was organized in the RGU mini auditorium. Ignatius Dsouza from the Art of Living, Arunachal Pradesh, provided insightful perspectives on how yoga can contribute to personal health, social harmony, and environmental sustainability.
