Arunachal ‘set’ for Vande Bharat Express as electric rail trial succeeds

Itanagar, Mar 20 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh has taken a significant stride toward modern rail connectivity with the successful completion of the electric trial run on the Harmutty-Naharlagun Railway section.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the milestone on social media, calling it a “new dawn” for the state’s Railways.
With this achievement, Arunachal Pradesh is now ready to welcome the Vande Bharat Express, which promises faster, greener, and more efficient travel options for passengers.
“The successful #electrictrial on the Harmutty-Naharlagun section marks a key milestone. With this, Arunachal is now ready for #VandeBharatExpress, bringing faster, greener & more efficient travel. A new era of modern rail connectivity begins!” Khandu wrote on micro-blogging site X.
The electrification of the Harmutty-Naharlagun stretch marks a crucial shift towards sustainable and modern railway operations. The upcoming introduction of Vande Bharat Express is expected to significantly reduce travel time while improving comfort for passengers traveling to and from the state, sources said.
