Ayodhya on high alert amid tensions with Pak

Ayodhya (UP), May 10 (UNI) Amidst the tension between India and Pakistan, the administration and intelligence agencies are on high alert regarding security in Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, a police officer said here on Saturday.

The officer said that Ayodhya is extremely important from the religious and cultural point of view. "It has always been the target of terrorists," he said.

Senior police officers are patrolling the city of Ayodhya throughout the night due to the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. Special surveillance is being maintained in sensitive and hypersensitive areas.

Verification of outsiders and people staying for a long time is being done. Social media is also being closely monitored. Details of those spreading rumours and posting misleading posts are being collected.

Vigilance has been increased at other major religious places including Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and Hanuman Garhi. Every part of the city is being monitored through CCTV cameras. Intelligence agencies are constantly keeping an eye on sensitive areas.

Information is being collected about people coming from outside states and outsiders living in Ayodhya for a long time. For this, special teams have been formed which are scrutinising the records.

Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal, IG Praveen Kumar, District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Gaurav Grover, other senior officials have inspected the Ram Temple, Hanuman Garhi and other important places to know the security arrangements.

The DM has appealed to the citizens not to panic in any emergency situation. "Understand the seriousness of the situation, stay calm, trust only the official information issued by the government and the district administration," he said.

He directed people to stay indoors in special circumstances. "Stay inside your homes until the administration asks you to go out. Stay away from windows and doors. Use the inner room. Sit on the floor, or stay away from the walls," he said.

The SSP said that if you see any suspicious person or activities, immediately inform the local police or administration. Do not touch any unclaimed object, immediately inform the police about it. He asked for use of minimum lights at night so that less visibility is seen from outside.
