Kolkata, Mar 17 (UNI) A Sanyasi of Bharat Sevashram, among two persons was killed and five others injured in a road accident when the van they were travelling collided head on with a sand laden truck in West Bengal's Howrah district on Monday, official sources said.
The deceased include Swami Subhas Maharaj and an employee of Bharat Sevashram of Golpark, the headquarters in south Kolkata.
Two of the five critically injured in the accident were admitted to the Uluberia Saratchandra Medical College and Hospital.
The mishap occurred when the van from Golpark was heading towards Mahishadal in Purba Medinipur, jumped the busy NH 16 lane near the Library More at Bagnan and the Howrah bound speeding truck on the other side hit the van resulting in the death and injury this morning, police said.
