Bengal: BJP karyakarta shot at in North 24 Parganas, assailant arrested

Kolkata, Apr 6 (UNI) A BJP karyakarta was shot at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas on Sunday, and the police promptly arrested the suspected assailant immediately after he committed the crime, official sources said.
Asutosh Biswas, while returning home on a motorbike after dropping his wife at the Railway station at Gaighata, was hit by a bullet on his left chest and fell. His loud cries alerted the local people, who helped the police to arrest the assailant, identified as Tapan Bala, at the spot.
The injured was first taken to a Grameen hospital. He was later shifted to the Barasat General Hospital, which referred him to the RG Kar Hospital following his critical condition.
