Bihar Congress releases QR code to invite applications from ticket aspirants

Patna, May 12 (UNI) The Bihar Congress, in its bid to bring transparency in ticket distribution for the upcoming state assembly elections, released a QR code on Monday to invite online applications from ticket aspirants.
President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee(BPCC) Rajesh Ram released the QR code poster before media persons, for inviting online application forms from ticket aspirants for the next Bihar assembly elections to be held in October-November.
It was an attempt of the party to bring transparency in distribution of tickets among aspirants so that suitable candidates could be selected without being influenced by any exterior factor, he added.
"It was noticed that several ticket aspirants often visited residences of senior leaders and also state headquarters of the party with request for tickets to contest elections," Congress leader said adding that in some cases, it was found that few senior leaders recommended the names of aspirants without taking into account his or her suitability.
Sometimes, suitable candidates could not get the chance to plead their cases before senior leaders for tickets, he pointed out.
Ram said that requests made by only party members would be entertained for processing. Certain details like participation in party programmes, number of Facebook followers, instructions of top leaders followed by aspirants would be required to be furnished while filling up application forms by ticket aspirants, he added.
"Aspirants from all 243 assembly seats in Bihar can apply for tickets online using QR code, and tickets would be allotted only to those from seats where Congress would contest as per seat sharing among constituents of the Grand Alliance," the Congress leader said, adding that in other seats, they would support candidates of the alliance.
The Congress would strongly support candidates of the Grand Alliance where the party was not itself contesting, he asserted.
