Carriage bus station to resolve problem of parking in UP

Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved a proposal regarding the UP State Carriage Bus Station, Contract Carriage and All India Tourist Bus Park (Establishment and Regulation) Policy 2025.
The proposal was passed during the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Giving details Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh said that a total of 11 proposals have been approved in the Cabinet meeting. He said that amid the increasing number of buses, it is often seen that drivers park the bus on the roadside when there is no space in the bus stand, due to which there is a possibility of the accident.
He said, "That is why the government has decided that carriage bus stands will be established in every district with the cooperation of the private sector."
The Minister said that a regulatory authority for the setting up of carriage bus stand, contract carriage and tourist bus park will be constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate for inviting applications and establishment related work.
He said that the committee will have a nine-member team including the District Police Chief, Municipal Commissioner, Secretary of Municipal Corporation and officials of Development Authority, Municipal Council as its members. "Those interested in setting up a bus stand must have two acres of land and the applicant's net worth must be Rs 50 lakh. The applicant will be a legal entity for setting up a state carriage bus stand, contract carriage and tourist bus park. For this, he can apply alone or as a consortium," he said.
Khanna said that no applicant will be allowed to set up more than ten carriage bus stands, contract carriage and tourist bus parks in the state, more than two in a district and more than one on one route. "The applicant will be given permission to operate for 10 years and if the work is satisfactory, it can be renewed for the next 10 years," he said.
