Centre of Excellence in Skill Development to be established in Odisha: Jayant Choudhary

Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (UNI) A Centre of Excellence in Skill Development will be established in Odisha, Union Minister of State for Skill Development Jayant Choudhary announced.
Choudhary, who paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, stated that this year’s budget has allocated funds for five Centres of Excellence in skill development, one of which will be set up in Odisha.
During the meeting, Choudhary and Majhi discussed the implementation of various central schemes in the state and the establishment of additional skill development centres in Odisha.
According to official sources, discussions focused on strengthening Odisha’s ITIs, setting up more 'World Skill Centres,' and establishing a Multi-language Training Centre for skill development students. Additionally, they explored including ITIs in the PM-Janman Yojana to enhance skill development opportunities for youth in tribal areas.
The Union Minister expressed a positive stance on these proposals and assured that a decision would be made soon.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Commissioner and Secretary of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department Bhupendra Singh Punia, and Commissioner and Secretary of the School and Public Education Department Shalini Pandit.
