Chhattisgarh: Rs 23 crore scam unearthed in Sarguja's Tribal Cooperative Society

Sarguja, May 6 (UNI) A scam worth Rs 23 crore has been uncovered in the Adim Jati Sahakari Samiti in Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh.
Sarguja Collector Vilas Bhaskar has taken cognizance of the matter and written to the Superintendent of Police, Balrampur, to register an FIR against seven individuals, including the Chief Executive Officer of the District Cooperative Central Bank.
The case pertains to the Shankargarh and Kusmi Cooperative Bank, where the audit report for the period between 2012 and 2022 revealed irregularities worth crores. The administration had constituted a team to investigate the matter.
The investigation team's report has revealed a scam worth Rs 23 crore from just four banks. The scam involved the use of private business institutions' accounts and the withdrawal of crores without proper voucher documents.

Kashmiri journalist detained for 'instigating secessionist sentiment' on social media

Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Tuesday detained a Kashmiri journalist, accusing him of “posting extremist content on social media.”

Police said Hilal Mir, a resident of Bemina Srinagar was detained as he "used to disseminate extremist or distorted content with an intention to disturb peace and promote disaffection and secessionist ideology and present India in a bad shape.”

Police statement didn’t mention Mir as a journalist.
Mir, an independent reporter, has previously worked with media organsations including Hindustan Times and Srinagar based newspapers. He also freelanced for Anadolu Agency, TRT and Huffpost.
