CM launches 'Odisha Sramik Sathi' mobile app for Construction Workers' benefit

Bhubaneswar, May 1 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday launched the Odisha Sramik Sathi mobile app to bring the services of the Construction Workers Welfare Board directly to the fingertips of workers.
Majhi stated that with this app, construction workers can easily access a range of services from the comfort of their homes. These include online worker registration, renewal, and applications for various assistance schemes.
He added that the mobile app would be a significant step toward simplifying service delivery for the state's construction workforce.
Addressing a program organized at the OUAT Krishi Shiksha Sadan on the occasion of International Workers' Day, the Chief Minister said that efforts are underway to register 60 categories of unorganized workers under the Odisha Unorganized Workers Social Security Board and provide them with various welfare benefits.
He claimed that from the very first day in office, the government has worked with dedication for the welfare and development of people across all levels in the state.
On this occasion, Majhi also inaugurated multi-purpose Shramik Pratikhya Kendras at two major worker congregation points in Bhubaneswar—Dumduma and Kalpana Square. These centers offer temporary shelter along with facilities for drinking water, toilets, and parks.
The CM announced that similar Shramik Pratikhya Kendras will soon be established in other urban areas, including Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Berhampur.
He also distributed various forms of assistance—educational, marriage, maternity, death, and funeral—under the Construction Workers Welfare Scheme.
Majhi noted that, in line with election promises, the death assistance amount under the welfare board has been increased from Rs.2 lakh to Rs.3 lakh in cases of natural death, and from Rs.4 lakh to Rs.6 lakh in cases of accidental death.
So far, approximately 47 lakh construction workers have been registered under the scheme, with over Rs.3,951 crore disbursed in assistance, the CM claimed.
Since the current government took office, over 4 lakh construction workers have been newly registered, and Rs.370 crore in aid has been provided to them.
Today, around 3,000 newly issued identity cards were distributed to eligible construction workers across the state, along with over Rs.40 crore in assistance.
Majhi further stated that a task force has been formed under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister to identify and support migrant workers. Additionally, a special State Action Plan has been prepared specifically for Odia migrant workers.
He also announced that the minimum wage for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers in various sectors has been revised. Furthermore, a variable dearness allowance of Rs.10 per day, in addition to the prescribed minimum wage, will be implemented retroactively from April 1.
