Constable shoots self, commits suicide in Rampur

Rampur (UP), Mar 23 (UNI) A 28-year-old police personnel shot himself with his official weapon and committed suicide inside Tanda police station of Rampur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said here.
Police sources said constable Ankit Kumar, posted at Tanda police station, was a resident of village Dhalna, Khanpur, in Bulandshahr. He shot himself with his official INSAS rifle at around 6:50 pm. "Ankit was employed in the police department for seven years and was posted at Tanda for the last two years," they said.
On getting information about the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Atul Shrivastava, Circle Officer (CO) Kirti Anand and other police and administrative officers reached the spot.
Police sources said this is the second incident of suicide in the district. "A few days ago, a sub-inspector had committed suicide by hanging himself inside the Suar police station of the district," they said. UNI XC AB SSP
