Cricket statistician Keshavamurthy passes away

Bengaluru, May 6 (UNI) Renowned cricket statistician Chennagiri Kesavamurthy, known for his vast collection of statistics on Karnataka cricket, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 85.
He died at his residence due to age-related health issues.
Chennagiri Kesavamurthy, a walking library for sports journalists, was a familiar presence at domestic cricket matches, where he would provide journalists with quick access to crucial cricket statistics, often even those from decades ago.
Kesavamurthy's meticulous collection and knowledge of cricket data were unmatched, and he was a trusted resource for those in the media industry.
He is survived by his son, Sanjay Channagiri, and daughter, Savita. The final rites will be conducted at Chamarajpet today.
Kesavamurthy not only contributed to cricket statistics but also penned detective novels, showcasing his passion for literature. A book about his life and achievements, titled Sahityave Haariru Krikete Usiru, was released earlier this year. The book was launched in the presence of veteran cricketer BS Chandrasekhar.
Kesavamurthy's death marks the loss of a true pillar in Karnataka's cricketing community.
