Day temperatures above normal at isolated places over Punjab

Pune, Mar 14 (UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal.

The temperatures appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over west Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada; at a few places over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Telangana, Rayalaseema, north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

These were markedly below normal (5.1°C or less) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and near normal over rest parts of the country.

On Thursday, the highest maximum temperature of 42.0°C was reported at Bramhapuri (Vidarbha) over the country.



Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over west Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa; at a few places over Saurashtra and Kutch, east Rajasthan; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Marathwada, Gangetic West Bengal.

The night temperatures above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, coastal Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha; at isolated places over Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, south interior Karnataka,

Kerala and Mahe.

These were below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 13.4°C is reported at Amritsar (Punjab) over the plains of the country.



On Thursday, Heat wave to Severe heat wave conditions were prevailed at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch and Heat wave conditions at isolated places over Gujarat region and

Vidarbha.



Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Arunachal Pradesh and at a few places in Assam and Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Uttar Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and interior Karnataka.

Following observations for the past 24 hrs were recorded at 0830 hrs on Friday.
