New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26 in the Union Assembly which proposes 31.5 per cent more expenditure than the budget for 2024-25.
In the budget presented on the second day of the budget session, a provision of Rs 28,000 crore has been made for the development of infrastructure in the budget.
When the Finance Minister Mrs. Gupta stood up to present the budget, the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) raised Modi-Modi slogans in the House and greeted her by thumping the table.
Presenting the Rs 1 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly, Mrs. Gupta said that this budget will not only open new avenues for the overall development of Delhi but will also strengthen the possibilities of progress in every field.
She said the budget will give a new dimension to education, health, transport and infrastructure development in the capital. She said that a provision of Rs 28,000 crore has been made for the development of infrastructure in the budget.
The Chief Minister said that the provisions made for the infrastructure sector would be used for expansion of roads, bridges, drainage, transport and other public services. Gupta expressed confidence that the budget will be a strong step towards transforming Delhi into a smart and modern city.
This is the first budget of the BJP government which came to power in Delhi after 27 years.
