Delhi HC reserves order on Engineer Rashid’s petition to allow him attend Parliament session

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved its order on Engineer Rashid Sheikh’s plea to grant him permission to attend the ongoing parliament session.

Engineer Rashid, who won parliamentary election from Baramulla constituency, is in jail in terror-funding related cases.

A bench of justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani said that a detailed order would be issued in this regard very soon.

The bench deliberated on certain conditions which could be imposed on Engineer Rashid for allowing him to attend this Lok Sabha session. A request will be made to the Lok Sabha secretariat to give permission of squatting police officials to accompany jailed parliamentarian to attend the session.

Earlier, a trial court dismissed Engineer Rashid’s plea for a regular bail in this terror funding case.

The court in its order stated that he cannot be allowed to use his status as a member of parliament to get away from rigorous imprisonment.
