Drug peddlers, militants nabbed in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 8 (UNI) Manipur Police and security personnel nabbed two women peddlers and as many militants in three separate incidents during the last 24 hours.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered in three other operations in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts.
Police said Manipur police arrested two women, identified as Babycha and Sahani of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi, Imphal West District along with 25 soap cases containing suspected Heroin No. 4, weighing 308.15 gm in total excluding the weight of soap cases, from Sagolband Salam Leikai under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West District.
Security forces arrested one active cadre of UPPK, from Pebiya Pandit Leikai near Meira Shang under Irilbung-PS, Imphal East District. He is involved in extortion activities from the general public and private schools and colleges located at Imphal areas.
Security forces also arrested one active cadre of PREPAK, from Keirao Wangkhem village near TB Hospital under Irilbung-PS, Imphal East District.
In an operation at Thangjing hill in Churachandpur District one AK-47, one AK-47 Magazine, one 12 Bore SBBL Gun, one .303 Rifle with Magazine, one .303 Rifle with Magazine, two Rocket (8 feet), three Rocket (5 feet) and large numbers of war like materials were seized.
Four sack bags containing arms and ammunition were recovered from Keirao Wangkhem village and its adjoining area, foothill of Ngariyan hill range under Irilbung-PS, Imphal East District.
In another operation , one 5.56 mm Insas Rifle with magazine, one .22 Pistol with 02 magazines, one bolt action Rifle, one Short range Projectile launcher, five Improvised Mortars, five Pull Mech Rifles and ten Mortar Bombs were recovered from the general area of the track connecting N.Boljang and zero point, Kangpokpi.

Aizawl, Apr 16 (UNI) Representatives from Mizoram's civil bodies have reiterated their opposition to the Centre’s move to scrap the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and erect fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border during a high-level meeting in Delhi, a statement said on Wednesday.The meeting on Tuesday evening was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and representatives of the NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC) and the Zo Reunification Organisation (ZoRO)The delegation, comprising leaders from prominent civil society groups and student organisations, conveyed their concerns directly to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), asserting that the Centre’s proposals disregard the ethnic, cultural and historical ties shared by Zo ethnic groups residing across the border.According to a joint press release issued by the NGOCC and ZoRO, the Union Home Secretary expressed hope that the Mizoram-based organisations would eventually support the Centre’s plans to fence the international boundary.
