Kolkata, May 21 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), during raids and search operations on the property of TM Traders and KK Traders in Mumbai, Bangalore, Jalandhar, Indore, and Kolkata has seized foreign currencies of USD, Singapore Dollar, Dirham to the tune of around Rs. 6,42,973, ornaments worth Rs. 55,74,667, bank balances of Rs. 94 lakh and several property documents, official sources said.
The ED, while conducting a search operation at multiple locations following FIRs in Kolkata, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, seized several digital devices and various incriminating documents on Friday (last week) about the alleged money laundering cases.
The ED initiated an investigation based on the FIR registered by the Kolkata , Maharashtra, and Gujarat Police under various sections of the IPC, 1860 against the
T M Traders, K K Traders, TP Global Fx, and others.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the website of TP Global FX is neither registered with RBI nor does it have any authorization from RBI for forex trading, the ED said in a statement.
The RBI has also issued an alert list, on September 7, 2022, warning the general public against unauthorized trading platforms.
The ED's investigation revealed that a sophisticated deception was allegedly orchestrated by a few individuals, including Prasenjit Das and Tushar Patel, by utilizing numerous dummy companies to entice investors into a fraudulent scheme promising high returns on forex trading investments through TP Global FX.
Additionally, the directors and promoters of IX Global, namely Viraj Suhas Patil and Joseph Martinez, actively promoted TP Global FX as their preferred brokers.
During further investigation, it was revealed that multiple FIRs have been registered across the country against TP Global FX/ IX Global/ IX Academy Pvt/ different influencers/ promoters of IX Global viz. Viraj Suhas Patil, Tushar Patel, Joseph Martinez, etc. for luring the general public in the guise higher return on the
invested money in the name of forex trading at the platform of TP Global FX/ IX Global.
The ED had arrested Shailesh Kumar Pandey, Prasenjit Das, and Viraj Suhas Patil, and
seized/frozen/attached assets worth Rs 270 crore (approximately), including cash, gold, real estate, hospitality establishments, office spaces, agricultural land, vehicles, cryptocurrencies, and bank balances.
Two Prosecution Complaints (PCs) have already been filed against the arrested accused persons, with the Special Court (PMLA) having taken cognizance of the offence of money laundering. The investigation is on, the ED said.
