Embrace a career in Indian Army: Arunachal Guv to youth at ESM rally

Itanagar, Mar 23 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik lauded the rich legacy of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in producing brave soldiers who have served the nation with valour and distinction.
Speaking at the ex-servicemen rally, ‘Veteran Rally 2025’, organized by the Spearhead Division, 56 Infantry Division at Likabali Military Station on Sunday, the Governor called upon the youth to embrace a career in the Indian Army, highlighting it as a path of honour, courage, and national service.
He emphasized that beyond serving the nation, the Army provides excellent opportunities for personal growth, leadership, and a fulfilling career.
The Governor lauded the immense contributions of veterans (ESMs), calling them the epitome of courage, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation. Acknowledging their unwavering service in safeguarding India's borders and upholding the values that define a strong and resilient nation, he expressed deep gratitude for their sacrifices.
Governor Parnaik emphasized that the event was a tribute to the welfare and contributions of the ex-servicemen, underscoring that their service extends beyond the Armed Forces, as they continue to play a vital role in nation-building through their experience, discipline, and patriotism.
Highlighting the critical importance of healthcare for veterans, the Governor assured that authorities are actively working to strengthen and effectively implement the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Acknowledging the challenges of transitioning to civilian life, Parnaik reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing skill development, vocational training, and employment opportunities for ESMs.
The Governor reaffirmed the unwavering support of both the State and Central Governments in ensuring that veterans and their families receive the respect, resources, and opportunities they rightfully deserve.
The event brought together ex-servicemen, and military officials to celebrate their contributions and strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces and the community. The rally also served as a platform to address veteran welfare and resolve grievances/ anomalies in the disbursement of pension, land and legal cases, and other issues being faced by Veterans, Veer Naris, and other dependents.
Representatives of CDA Guwahati, ECHS, District Sainik Welfare Board, State Bank of India, Ex-Servicemen Cell, Station Headquarters Likabali, Soldier Board, Record Offices Cell, and representatives of the civil administration were also present at the venue to address the grievances of the veterans and extend help. A medical camp was also organised to mitigate the health-related issues of veterans.
Veer Naris and Veterans were also facilitated by the chief guest on the special occasion.
