Gaddar cinema awards to set new benchmark globally: Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka

Hyderabad, Apr 22 (UNI) The Telangana government is determined to host the Gaddar Cinema Awards as an event of unprecedented grandeur, matching global standards, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced.
Speaking at the Gaddar Awards jury meeting held at LV Prasad Cine Lab on Tuesday, he assured full government support to make the awards function a historic and inspirational event.
Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised that the Gaddar Cinema Awards should be remembered as "Nabhuto Na Bhavishyathi," meaning unparalleled and unmatched. He urged the committee members and officials to organize the event in such a way that it draws attention from across the world and places Hyderabad firmly on the global cinematic map.
Highlighting the neglect faced by the film industry over the past decade, the Deputy CM recalled that the tradition of state-sponsored film awards had been discontinued since 2011.
He lamented the lack of encouragement for the sector in recent years but reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to revitalizing the industry, just as previous Congress regimes had once relocated and nurtured the film sector in Hyderabad by providing incentives and housing for industry workers.
Paying rich tributes to the legendary Gaddar, Bhatti Vikramarka said it was Telangana’s fortune to have birthed such an iconic figure. He described Gaddar as a cultural beacon who universalised Telangana’s spirit through his art and activism, inspiring generations from young children to elders.
He recalled how Gaddar’s padayatra in the Singareni region played a critical role in mobilising support for the formation of a separate Telangana state.
The Deputy CM stressed that the media, which upholds development and societal values, must be protected and encouraged by those in power. He reiterated that the current government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is committed to strengthening the film sector to send a powerful, positive message to society.
Calling for impartiality, Bhatti Vikramarka urged jury members to select awardees based solely on merit, steering clear of family ties or personal biases. He further announced that, alongside film awards, special awards will be given in the names of eminent personalities who have brought prestige to the industry, aiming to inspire future generations.
