Srinagar, Apr 18 (UNI) Amid Article 370 row, National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah will not attend the book launch of former RAW chief A.S. Dulat in New Delhi on Friday.
Confirming the decision, Abdullah’s daughter Safia Abdullah Khan posted on X, “I can put you out of your misery. He is NOT attending.”
She was responding to a post of a Journalist on X.
"Now all eyes on Delhi. People watching whether 'friend' Farooq Abdullah would be attending A.S. Dulat's book release event today. If yes, what exactly would he speak!," Journalist Ahmed Ali Fayyaz wrote.
A major controversy erupted after Dulat, in his new book “The Chief Minister and the Spy”, claimed that Farooq Abdullah had privately backed the abrogation of Article 370 and was even willing to “help” if taken into confidence.
While Abdullah and his party NC dismissed the claim as a “cheap stunt” to sell books, calling it a “figment of imagination,” the Opposition parties slammed the former Chief Minister saying he had betrayed the people.
Incidentally, former Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur, who had to release the book as a chief guest, has also opted out of the launch event. He cited the political controversy surrounding certain remarks attributed to NC Patron Abdullah.
