Five member committee to probe Lok Bandhu hospital fire incident

Lucknow, Apr 15 (UNI) A five-member committee will probe into the fire incident in Lok Bandhu Rajnarayan Joint Hospital in Krishna Nagar area of the state capital Lucknow, official sources said here on Tuesday.
On the directives of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the charge of Health Minister, a letter has been issued by the Principal Secretary of Health, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, in this regard.
The committee will be chaired by the Director General of Medical and Health Services with the Director of the Electrical Safety Directorate, the Additional Director of the Medical Education Department, an officer nominated by the Fire Department and the Additional Director of Medical Health Services (Electricity) as its members.
Deputy CM Pathak says that if anyone is found guilty in this case, strict action will be taken against him. "The committee will also submit its suggestions to prevent such incidents in future," he said.
He said that the committee will submit its report in 15 days regarding the primary cause of the fire, identification of any kind of negligence or fault (if any) and effective steps to be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
It may be noted that panic gripped the patients and attenders when a major fire broke out in Lok Bandhu Hospital in the Krishna Nagar area of the state capital, Lucknow, late on Monday night. The incident took place in the ICU and female block of the hospital.
About 200 patients admitted in different wards were evacuated safely and shifted to other hospitals in the city.
