HCU land dispute: Protests continue, tension prevails at HCU

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Students and faculty members of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) continued their protest on Wednesday over the Kancha Gachibowli land dispute.
Protesters gathered inside the university gate, demanding clarity on the land issue. When they attempted to move towards the 400 acres of land being leveled by the government, police intervened and stopped them. At one point, the police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the protesters.
Heavy security has been deployed as the agitation escalated.
During a press conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu reiterated that the 400 acres of land in Survey No. 25 in Kancha Gachibowli have always been government property.
He further clarified that the government has not taken even a single inch of land belonging to Hyderabad Central University.
