Health dept alert towards prevention and treatment of AES

Patna, Apr 18 (UNI) Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said the Health department was serious and alert towards the effective prevention and treatment of AES (Acute Encephalitis Syndrome) and added that the health services in the affected districts were being strengthened.
Pandey said here on Friday that the department was also carrying out awareness activities at various level.
He said for making the prevention system and treatment of AES more effective and prompt, AES kits will be made available in 350 health institutions of 18 districts affected by AES.
The Minister said a total of 1000 AES kits will be made available to the health institutions of the concerned districts in the state.
He said apart from this, 100 additional AES kits will be given to the primary health centres particularly affected by AES for emergency needs.
Pandey said the AES kit will contain 13 medical items including digital BP machine, glucometer, AMBU bag, mucus sucker. Oxygen is already available locally in all health institutions for medical treatment.
The districts where AES kits will be sent include Arwal, Aurangabad, East Champaran, West Champaran, Darbhanga, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, Nawada, Patna, Samastipur, Saran, Siwan, Sitamarhi, Sheohar and Vaishali.
The Minister said the government was working on war footing for providing emergency health services to prevent and provide treatment to the children suffering from AES.
He said necessary instructions have been issued to all health service providers in this context.
