Bangladesh constructing embankment along border in South Tripura

Agartala, Apr 19 (UNI) Residents of Indian villages in South Tripura demanded that Central government take action and save their lives as Bangladesh has been raising an embankment on the other side of the River Muhuri, dividing India and Bangladesh.
Officials here said after the matter was brought to the notice of the government, district administration had been asked to inquire into the matter on an urgent basis. The state government has also sought a report from BSF, as they have been manning the border, how it escaped their notice.
“Earlier, in January this year, similar incident of raising an embankment in Bangladesh side close to zero line along River Manu in Kailashahar of Unokoti district was brought to notice of the Chief Minister by local Congress MLA Birjit Sinha and now Indian government is raising similar embankment in and around Kailashahar with greater height to prevent possible threat of floods,” officials stated.
