Higher reaches in HP receive fresh snowfall : IMD

Shimla, Mar 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh received light rain at many places and higher reaches was wrapped in a thick layer of snow, India Meteorological department (IMD) said on Friday.
The sky is overcast in the state this morning. The Meteorological Centre, Shimla, has issued a detailed weather forecast for the next three days, predicting inclement weather across the state.
Tourist resort Manali recorded seven mm rain, Sangla in Kinnaur (2.6 mm), and Saloni (2.3 mm).
Snowfall was reported in Gondla (13.0 cm), Kukumseri (5.9 cm), and Keylong (4.0 cm).
Minimum temperatures in Shimla was nine degrees, Jubberhati and Bhuntar airport 10.3 and 6.9 degrees, Tourists resort Manali 3.9 Kalpa minus 0.4 degrees, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti wad coldest at minus 5.7 degree , Kangra 10.2 degrees, Mandi 10.7, Una 9.8, Nahan 13, Bilaspur 10.2, Chamba 8, Dalhousie 5.2 and Kukumesri was coldest at minus 5.8 degrees.
Light to moderate rain and snow are expected at many places on March 14 and 16, with more widespread activity on March 15.
Heavy rain and snow are expected at isolated places in the state on March 15 and 16.
Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Lahaul-Spiti are expected to experience heavy rain and snow, with thunderstorms and lightning.
Residents and travelers are advised to take precautions due to the expected disruptions in essential services, reduced visibility, and slippery roads. It was also advised to avoid vulnerable structures and areas prone to landslides and monitor local media for updates and follow traffic advisories.
The weather is expected to improve significantly after March 17, with dry conditions prevailing across the state. Residents are urged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and advisories.
