Himachal: Police file FIR in fake appointment letter case

Shimla, Apr 4 (UNI) A case of a fake appointment letter has come forth in Himachal Pradesh's Agriculture Department, with Jogiram Atri, the Under Secretary of Agriculture, filing a complaint at the Chhota Shimla police station.
The police have registered the case and initiated an investigation.
The complainant informed the police that a person named Anish Kumar forged an appointment letter for the position of Junior Office Assistant (JOA) and later presented it before Joint Director Rahul Katoch at the Dharmashala office.
The letter was also verified by a contractor named Amit. However, upon scrutiny, several irregularities were found. The appointment letter falsely stated that the recruitment was regular, whereas in Himachal Pradesh, all Class-III positions have been filled on a contractual basis since 2003.
The fake appointment letter bore the seal of the Agriculture Directorate and even included forged signatures of the Under Secretary. A major discrepancy was found in the document, where the Under Secretary’s designation was incorrectly mentioned as "Assistant Secretary" instead of "Under Secretary," despite his promotion to the latter position on November 1, 2024.
The Under Secretary of Agriculture has also written to the DGP (Vigilance) for an investigation into the matter, in addition to filing a police complaint. UNI ML AKT SSP
