Himachal: Teachers, non-teaching staff of HPU stage protest over delay in payment of their salary

Shimla, May 3 (UNI) Nearly 1,500 teachers and non-teaching staff of Himachal Pradesh University, (which has been running without a permanent Vice Chancellor) for the last three years, staged a protest here on Saturday over delay in payment of their salary.
Angry over not getting their salary even on third of the month, affected staff came out of the university offices this afternoon, raised slogans and also staged a 'dharna'.
Protesters targetted the state Congress rule, accusing it of tampering with the state finances and pushing Institution of higher learning into state of anarchy.
They also accused university administration of failing to manage funds for routine functioning of university.
HPU teachers and non-teaching unions warned the authority that if salaries are not credited to their accounts by Monday, teachers would boycott classes and non-teaching staff would go on pen-down strike.
