HP Govt to take control of Wildflowers hall hotel

Shimla, March 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Government would take the control of five star hotel Wildflowers hall by March 31 as the Supreme court ordained deadline to handover the property is near, according to the state Advocate General Anup Rattan.
During the latest hearing in the Himachal Pradesh High Court before bench of justice Joytsena Rewal Dua, Advocate General Anoop Rattan informed the court that the government would soon assume control of the property. "The state has also formed a joint inspection team to oversee the transition process. " he told the bench.
Senior Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared on behalf of the Oberoi Group, which has been managing the hotel for years under East India Hotels Limited.
The Supreme Court has set the March 31. 2025 deadline, and the state government is actively working on the takeover process.
The Himachal Pradesh government had earlier sought additional time for a joint inspection of Wildflower Hall. The court granted this request, allowing the process to be completed by 5 PM on March 21. Now, with the final date set for March 31, the government is making preparations to ensure a smooth transfer.
Following the possession of Wildflower Hall, the state government plans to invite global tenders to lease out the property to a new hospitality firm. The goal is to bring in a competent company that can continue running the hotel while boosting tourism in the region.
However, the government has also provided an option for the Oberoi Group to apply for an extension of up to three months to continue managing the hotel." If the company submits an official request, the government is willing to approve it, ensuring that the hotel remains operational during the transition period." AG said.
On March 25, Advocate General Anoop Rattan would submit a written application to the High Court detailing this settlement. The matter would then be reviewed in the next hearing on April 10 in the court of Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua.
Wildflower Hall, a symbol of colonial-era luxury, has been at the center of a two-decade-long legal dispute between the Himachal Pradesh government and the Oberoi Group.
The High Court had earlier ruled in favour of the state, and the Supreme Court upheld this decision, setting March 31 as the final date for the transfer.
